Name : Disk-Doktors
Aliases : Crackright
Type/Size : Boot/1024
Clones : Paratax, Grim Reaper
Symptoms : No symptoms.
Discovered : 06-03-89
Way to infect: Boot infection
Rating : Less Dangerous
Kickstarts : 1.2
Damage : Overwrites Boot + Formats Rootblock.
Removal : Install Boot.
Comments : The Disk-Doktors virus allocates 2000 bytes chip
memory. To stay resident in memory the virus uses the
Cool and Cold-Vectors. For infection the virus patches
the DoIO()-Vector from the exec.library. A new patch
will be installed in Vec5 => $94(A6).
Additionally the virus creates a task with the name
"clipboard.device". This new task sets the above men-
tioned vectors always to the virus values. If a value
becomes bigger as 5 the virus allocates 51200 bytes
chip memory.
If you are booting with a Disk-Doktors infected disk
the virus adds 1 to a value. If this value becomes
bigger than 2000 the virus always destroys the Root-
Block of the disk.
In the Bootblock you can read:
"(C)rackright by Disk-Doktors"
